What is the TestDaF?
TestDaF – the German and foreign language test – was primarily created for students who want to study at a university in Germany.
It was developed to assess the language skills of German learners at levels B2 to C1 – basically from upper intermediate to lower advanced – and can be taken on a computer or on paper. After passing the TestDaF exam, your certificate is valid indefinitely.
TestDaF stands for Test – German as a Foreign Language. The TestDaF is a standardized exam conducted externally by the TestDaF Institute. This takes place on the same day in hundreds of TestDaF centres around the world – including at Kapitel Zwei Berlin. The standard and quality of the exam are regularly reviewed.
Recognition of the TestDaF language certificate
The TestDaF is a state-recognized language certificate for university entrance as well as an internationally recognized language certificate for the sciences and academic professions. It covers all levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) from B2 to C1+.
The TestDaF entitles you, as a foreign applicant, to study in Berlin and throughout Germany. It is comparable to the IELTS (International Test System for the English Language) and the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language).
